Summer’s Here!

“The solstice comes in June and why? The sun is highest in the sky.”

This old phrase tells the short version of an ages-old astronomical observation – the summer solstice. This year’s summer solstice will occur on June 21, when the sun will be at its highest point north of the equator here in the Northern Hemisphere. The result of this is the longest period of daylight compared to darkness throughout the year. This day officially marks the first day of summer on the calendar; kind of odd considering that the days start getting shorter right after the solstice!

We have to experience the opposite effect in Northeast DFW; on the day of the winter solstice. But rather than thinking about that, we would prefer to stay in the warm, summer moments. Be safe as you are having fun this summer. Happy summer!
