GET YOUR HOME READY FOR WINTER STORMS

No one expects winter storms will damage their Northeast DFW home, but it does happen. To ensure that you are prepared, Paul Davis Restoration of Northeast DFW has a few tips for you to stay safe this winter.

  • Check outside your home for loose shingles, siding, and fence boards and repair all issues as soon as you can. These items can easily blow off in major storms.
  • Remove weak or damaged parts of trees in your yard, especially those near buildings. Hiring a tree care professional is the best way to safely deal with large limbs and branches.
  • Clear debris from gutters and downspouts so the drainage system can perform its function. Downspouts should send water at least 5’ away from your foundation. An emergency fix can be as simple as adding downspout extensions to those areas where the water is not carried far enough away. Water draining under your home can lead to flooding, mold, and can attract termites!
  • Keep flashlights, camping lanterns, and/or headlamps in an easily accessible area in case of a power outage. That means fresh batteries for everything, too.
  • Have a supply of water and ready-to-eat food on hand as well. This will help sustain your family in the middle of a major storm.

The team at Paul Davis Restoration of Northeast DFW. encourages you, your family, and your home to be storm-ready at all times. Follow these steps to protect your family and sleep easier this winter.
